A New Chairman

Posted 4th December 2009

‘The Society is looking for a new Chairman to take over from Peter Brown towards the end of 2010.

You do not need to be a fountain expert to be considered for the post, but you obviously have to have the interests of fountains, jets, cascades and other water features very much at heart.

We are looking for someone who can lead the Fountain Society to the next stage of growth, through, amongst other things, involving other organizations in joint projects and ensuring that fountains are under consideration for suitable developments throughout the UK.

As global warming moves higher up most people’s agenda, the use of water features for both decorative and calming purposes is likely to increase, you will be pushing against and open door.

We would like a candidate who can serve for at least three years, through to 2013/14. He or she would need to be computer and internet literate and be available via mobile and/or email. We have four/five committee meetings at the Duke of Westminster’s office and one AGM a year and there are a very able secretary, treasurer and management committee to assist the Chairman.

A potentially successful candidate would be asked to join the committee as a member so both sides are happy with the appointment, before your election as Chairman.

The appointment is unpaid, though a small honorarium might be payable and all relevant expenses are of course refunded.

Please get in touch if this is of interest, there are no age, ethnic or gender barriers to anybody applying, if you are interested or involved in fountains, the built environment, garden and leisure park developments etc and have time available to fully develop and enjoy this appointment.’

If you are interested in applying for this appointment, please send an email to the Chairman :-
