Fountains in Distress

Posted 6th August 2010

Only two fountains in need requiring your attention this month. Remember we actively encourage members to write to their local council, responsible local body or owner, if you know of a fountain in distress. If you have any comments why not contact us

Ipswich - The Friends of Alexandra Park are keen to restore the historic drinking fountain and are asking that any one who has memories, as a child, or who has written or photographic detail of the fountain, to contact them.

The fountain was originally built in 1905 and was donated by the Byles/Cowell family for public use. If you can help, please contact: J.Milverton, 10, St. Helens Street, Ipswich, Suffolk. IP4 1HJ.

Burnham – Sedgemoor District Council and the Friends of Marine Cove Gardens are asking residents of Burnham, both currently and former, to look out any photographs they may have of the Edwardian Cherub Fountain which stood in the centre of the pond at Marine Cove Gardens.

The Heritage Lottery Fund is being approached for funding and the Council are trying to locate close up detail to see what the Cherub is holding plus other detail.
