Fountains in Distress

Posted 17th August 2010

Again only two fountains in need requiring your attention this month. We actively encourage members to write to their local council, responsible local body or owner, if you know of a fountain in distress. If you have any comments why not contact us

Walsall – The town centre Source & Ingenuity Fountain, which was meant to be the jewel in the civic square’s crown, has been switched off since building it five years ago apparently due to concerns by the health & safety officers over legionnaires disease.

The same applied to the tree metal fountain which is at Darlaston’s Victoria Park a few miles away
Local people, who either love it or hate it, should see it running as it was designed for visual effect.

Are there any local designers or manufacturers of fountain equipment available to have a look and ensure the water safety is attended to and to get these fountains flowing again.

If you can help please contact Mr. Keith Stone, Assistant Director for neighbourhood services, at Walsall directly

Gloucester – A substantial reward is being offered after thieves stole a rare £150,000, 18th century, water fountain from a country house at Siston, Glos. in June 2010.

The fountain is a 12 ft high Italian fountain with a cherub sitting on a dolphin and was in the home of Mr. Owen Inskip.

If you have any information then please contact D.C. Brooks at Staple Hill Police Station – phone 08454 567000.
