Fountain to be turned off
Posted 12th April 2009
THE fountain in Sheffield's Peace Gardens will be turned off temporarily over the next few weeks so maintenance can be carried out on the electricity supply.
The powerful jets are enjoyed by city youngsters on hot days every summer - but will be out of action while work is carried out.
Sheffield Council said electricity circuit boards beneath the fountain and the circuit breaker in the Town Hall need to be replaced.
Work is due to take eight to 10 weeks and it is anticipated it will be complete by mid July.
There will be no disruption to public walkways or seating and work will stop for events in the Peace Gardens such as Chance to Dance, Veterans' Day, and Lord Mayor's Day.
